The collest thing about studying design is that, when you have your mid-term test, they tell you to bring old magazines, glue, scizzors, and cutter. And cutting-mat. Or poster colours. Or chinese ink. Not 2B pencils labeled For Computer, or ordinary ballpoints like when I was in highschool.
Since elementary school.... while having a test, we'd sit in complete silence, burying our eyes deep into the question booklet, trying hard to concentrate. So, you see, yesterday was Nirmana Datar test. And for years I've known what to expect in the test, I'd know how well I've studied the previous night, I'd have a general picture of what's the test gonna be like, I'd know what part of the book I've missed plastering into my memory.... but yesterday, I didnt's spend the previous night sitting in my room with desk full of books and papers. I simply didn't know what to expect. It's my first mid-test. But it felt sort of cool. You know, it's like going into an adventure. The night before, I was kinda excited. Thrilled. You just go and deal with everything that's coming your way at that very moment. The test turned out to be cool. It's the MOST relax test I have in my life! In the coridor, the rest of the people were concentrating into their books, but we were like, 'what book?' lol obviously we had nothing to study. Simply unprepared, except for the old magazines we brought. When I entered the room, I was dissapointed bcuz the tables are small ones. HOW WAS I GOING TO USE CUTTER AND GLUE PICTURES TO 20x20 PIECE OF PAPER ON SMALL LAP-SIZE TABLE??? No room to move. Kinda discrimination... I heard the other design classes had large tables. So unfair. So one of our classmate ask if we could work on the floor. We could. So we began to sit on the floor like 6-grader doing a mading project. The whole hours we were laughing, commenting each other's work (what's to cheat anyway???), walking around, creating mess on the floor.... it's SO NOT like ordinary tests I've done before in my life. It was FUN. No tension, no silence, just fun. We left the room with papers all over the floor. Poor guy, whoever got to clean it up. Gosh, have I told you how I really LOVE this major??? It's really cool when you do know your thing, and you study it or work in that area. Btw, gotta go now... hey, to all of my friends out there, see y'all in Senoritar! It's my highschool's (Tarakanita's) annual event in Tennis Outdoor Senayan. I'm gonna go there and have some fun (though I barely know who Christian Bautista, the special guest star, is....) whatever, it's time to have small reunion with my highschool friends... yippieee!!!! Later, peeps. To those having test, mid-term or final, good luck =) |
